Functional Family Therapy-Child Welfare (FFT-CW)
Is designed to strengthen families by providing a supportive environment, assistance, and recommendations through five distinct phases of therapy for those that need to improve their relationships. A referral is required for enrollment.
Program Overview
Functional Family Therapy – Child Welfare (FFT-CW) is provided to families over a four-to-six-month period, depending upon what type of need families need support with. Our therapists meet with the entire family, typically in your home, to understand the family dynamic and provide therapy. Generally, families will receive therapy sessions on a weekly basis, but sessions can occur more often if needed. Families move through five phases of therapy.
Five Phases of Therapy
- Engagement: Develop a positive understanding and perception of therapy, the program, and why families benefit from this program
- Motivation: Increase hope and build alliances among family members, all while reducing negativity and blame
- Relational Assessment: Assess the way individual family members function and relate to one another, and provide recommendations on how relationships with one another can be improved
- Behavior Change: Build youth, parent, and family skills in areas like parenting, communication, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and family and community attachment
- Generalization: Increase family resources and supports while maintaining and generalizing changes
