We met Debbie at her lowest point, directly after she was hospitalized in concern for her own safety.
Her life seemed fine from the outside, but Debbie knew something was wrong for years. Debbie had a home and two wonderful children, but depression doesn’t discriminate. It wasn’t until her daughter found Debbie near death that her family realized Debbie needed help.
“I was numb, I didn’t realize what I was doing, I didn’t care about anything,” Debbie said.
As she began to heal, first in the hospital and then with the help of rehab services, Debbie realized she not only needed to make a change, she desperately wanted to put in the work that change would require.
“Family Services made me see that I am a good and caring person,” Debbie said. “They made me see that I have a good heart and deserve to live.”
Did you catch that? Debbie needed someone to remind her she deserved to live.
During her recovery, Debbie learned that she has a mental health disorder and that knowledge has given her the tools she needs to heal. Today, Debbie is focused on repairing her relationship with her daughters and celebrating the years she has to love her family. She knows they won’t always be easy, but Debbie also knows where to turn for the support she deserves.
“If there is anyone out there dealing with the same struggles I went through, always remember that there is help. You can get well again and live life to the fullest.”
