    Traditions – Chicken and Biscuits

    Overview

    This November, the Wesley on Wellness Cooking show celebrates Tradition in the spirit of Thanksgiving. Stress tends to run high as we approach the holiday season, sharing meals and memories with your closest friends and family can be a healing experience. Our host, Angela Gula, shares her favorite comfort food with an easy slower cooker recipe, Chicken and Biscuits!

    Ingredients

    • 1 whole rotisserie chicken
    • 1 can cream of chicken soup
    • 1 can cream of celery soup
    • 1 package of dry ranch mix
    • 1 package Italian dressing mix
    • 1 package of cream cheese
    • 1 stick of butter
    • 1 can of corn, 1 can of carrots, and 1 can of peas
    • Alternatively, 1 bag of mixed frozen vegetables
    • 1 package of canned biscuits
    • Salt & pepper to taste

    Instructions

    • Remove all the chicken from the bones and place in a crock pot
      • TIP: Using the juices from the package of rotisserie chicken adds extra flavor to the sauce.
    • Place the remaining ingredients in a crock pot and cook on high until hot, about two hours
      • TIP: For quick cleanup, use one bag of mixed frozen vegetables instead of 3 separate cans
      • TIP: To reduce the sodium content, you can substitute the ranch and Italian dressing mix with 2 tsp. Italian seasoning,
    • 2 tsp. garlic powder, 1 ½ tsp. pepper and 2 T. milk powder
    • Cook the biscuits according to the package instructions or you can bake your own whichever you prefer
    • Top chicken mixture over the warm biscuits
    • Serve and enjoy!
