Douglas Muetzel serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Wesley Family Services, a newly merged non-profit organization that united two of the largest behavioral healthcare providers: Wesley Spectrum and Family Services of Western Pennsylvania. Wesley Family Services provides a wide variety of therapeutic support programs and serves individuals throughout the course of their lifespan.
Prior to serving in his current role, Doug served as the CEO of Wesley Spectrum for more than 17 years where he led the organization to become one of the region’s most respected providers of child and adolescent behavioral healthcare services. Wesley Spectrum was known for its emphasis on treating and providing care that was holistic, integrated, innovative, and transformative. One of his biggest successes at Wesley Spectrum was the implementation of the Connections, Assessments, Resources, Evaluation and Support (CARES) program. CARES is a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and service-planning program for children with autism and their families and the program has been implemented and is offered at Wesley Family Services.
Before working in behavioral health, Doug had a successful career in sales and marketing and worked with internationally-known corporations like Cornerstone Publishing, Beecham Group, and Proctor and Gamble.
He serves on multiple boards including the Community Care Behavioral Health and Grove City College. Previously he served as board president of the statewide membership organization of the Pennsylvania Council for Children, Youth and Family Services.
Doug and his wife, Linda, reside in the North Hills and when he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with their two kids and three grandchildren. He believes that it is privilege for him and all staff members at Wesley Family Services to serve our region’s families. He has become one of Pittsburgh’s most passionate advocates for families and all those struggling with an issue and is a staunch believer that where there is help, there is always hope.
Doug graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
