Thank You to Supporters of Our 12th Annual Music of the Heart Creative Arts Recital
For the past 11 years, this exciting event has celebrated, through music and other creative art modalities, the abilities, and talents of individuals both with and without a diagnosis, such as autism and other medical and developmental disabilities.
If you have ever attended or performed in any type of recital, you’ve seen or have felt how rewarding it is to finally perform or watch a loved one perform. This recital is even more special to the families that participate as some thought their loved-one would never be able to do something as simple as talking.
On behalf of the children, adults, and families served by our Creative Arts Program, we would like to thank all of those who supported our 12th Annual Music of the Heart Recital, and we hope that those of you in attendance had a wonderful evening!
Our Creative Arts program has redefined the traditional therapeutic setting to include not only children, youth, and adults, but also invites the participation of families as well. Through the combination of dance/movement, drama, music, art, and poetry, the expressive arts support the potential for positive developmental outcomes. Reaching beyond the barriers of social, communicative, and cognitive limitations, music therapy offers individuals with disabilities a means to develop skills that can be used in everyday life. Through music therapy, individuals can identify and manage various emotional states and can pursue opportunities for creativity and self-expression. Our program serves as a valuable force in helping individuals and families in therapeutic, rehabilitative, community or educational settings foster health, communication, and expression.
Last year, more than 30 individuals were awarded scholarships thanks to the generous support of Recital donors. Even though this year’s Recital is over, you can still make a difference in someone’s life by making a monetary donation. All donations to our Creative Arts Program are appreciated!
